Interferences of waves in the plane

When waves with the same frequency are added, depending on their relative phase which depends only on the location, the result is a wave with the same frequency but a magnitude which can be reduced or increased. This effect is called interference. SQ file waves.sq demonstrates it.

First contact

Three sources of waves are placed in the plane. Each of them creates a sine in all directions. Their sum is represented by shades of gray. By choosing Magnitude in the Plots menu, the magnitude of the sine for each point of the plane is represented by shades of gray. One can observe that in some directions, the magnitude is null.
